Lodi Nauta holds a Royal Netherlands Academy chair in medieval and Renaissance philosophy at the University of Groningen. He has published an edition of William of Conches' commentary on Boethius' Consolatio Philosophiae, is finishing a book on Lorenzo Valla and is also the author of In Defense of Common Sense. In the 2007 European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) the journal received an A-ranking, being the only journal in the special field of medieval philosophy to be given such an award. Vivarium is an international journal dedicated to the history of philosophy and the history of ideas from the early Middle Ages to the early modern period. It takes a particular interest in the profane side of philosophy and its relationship with other areas of thought and learning from these periods. It is widely recognized as an unrivalled resource for the history of logic, semantics and metaphysics. It publishes philosophical analyses as well as historical studies of ideas, texts and the institutional context of medieval and early-modern thought and learning. It also welcomes editions of texts.
